What do we look for in a Rigorous Math Assessment Item submission?
Your submission is more likely to turn into a payable project if you keep the following guidelines in mind.
1. Understand who we are, what we do, and why we do it.
Make sure you’ve read the About Us page. That will tell you what we consider to be the effective instructional practices and frameworks we want to share with the educators who use our products. If your submission doesn’t align with our understanding of best practices, then it is very likely that we won't be able to move forward with the submission.
2. Review the list of Common Core Math Standards for which we want to add items to our site.
We need your help. We want to add new items to our site, and we are looking for teachers to submit original rigorous items that they have written for their own students. Review the Elementary School Math standard list, Middle School Math standard list and/or the High School Math standard list to see which standards we need. (Note: These lists can also be found by clicking the "Apply" buttons at the top and bottom of the page.)
3. Ask yourself, "Have I written and used a challenging assessment item in my class for any of the standards on these lists?"
If you have created your own rigorous item aligned to any of the standards on the lists, click the link next to the standard to apply. Fill out the brief application survey and submit your item for review. If your item requires any images, be sure to email a copy of it to coreyc@goalbookapp.com (3-8 math) or ryanm@goalbookapp.com (9-12 math).
4. Be sure to submit an item that is unique and challenging.
We are looking for items that challenge students to think critically and strategically. As a frame of reference, consider items that would be classified as DOK 3 using Webb's Depth of Knowledge framework or toward the top of Bloom's Taxonomy (Analyzing & Evaluating).
5. Please don't spend time creating anything just for the purpose of submission!
Our intention is for the submission phase to be very quick and easy for contributors since we do not pay for submissions. If you have multiple potential assessment items, please complete a new form for each one.
Ready to apply? We'd love to hear from you!
You can send us more than one submission at a time.
