Project: Decodable Passages (Grades K-2)

We have a list of decodable passages for K-2 we'd like to publish to our site.

For this project, we're inviting applicants to submit decodable passages for K-2 students with a focus on targeted phonics skills. These passages include opportunities to practice a skill (e.g. short a) alongside grade-level high-frequency words. Submissions should follow the specific guidelines listed in the "Link to Apply" section and require a simple storyline and engaging events. 

 Overview of Guidelines for Decodable Passages

Kindergarten:
From 35-55 words, including a target skill (e.g. CVC's) and high-frequency words from a "Fry's First Twenty" list. 

First Grade:
From 50-75 words, including a target skill (e.g. CVC's) and high-frequency words from the "Fry's First Hundred" list. 

Second Grade:
From 65-90 words, including a target skill (e.g. silent letters) and high-frequency words from the "Fry's First Two-Hundred" List. 

What do we look for in a Decodable Passage?
Your passage is more likely to turn into a payable project if you keep the following guidelines in mind.

1. Understand who we are, what we do, and why we do it.

​Make sure you’ve read the About Us page. That will tell you what we consider to be the effective instructional practices and frameworks we want to share with the educators who use our products. If your submission doesn’t align with our understanding of best practices, then it is very likely that we won't be able to move forward with the submission.

2. Review the list of Targeted Skills for Decodable Passages we want to add to our site.

We need your help.  We want to add new passages to our site and we are looking for teachers to submit original passages. Please review the list of categories: ​https://goo.gl/ekzpmB

3. Don't forget to send us your passage.

Our intention is for the submission phase to be very quick and easy for contributors since not every submission is approved to be a payable project. If you have multiple potential passages, please complete a new form for each one.
